Also known as a Secret Santa, this event involves participants gifting fan works to each other. Rules

❆ Winter Exchange is an event hosted in good faith and will assume that of others.Harassment, abuse, discriminatory speech, and such will not be tolerated. Do not goad people into arguments either. If there is a problem, take it outside of the event. Participants who are unable to exercise basic human decency will be removed from the event.❆ Plagiarism will not be tolerated.Tracing, copying, AI and/or editing others' fanarts are regarded as forms of plagiarism.Please respect fanworks. Unless otherwise negotiated between gifter and recipient upon reveal of identity, the right of use, reproduction, and/or distribution of works belongs to the content creator.❆ You must be an adult to partake in the NSFW sections.Participants who would like to produce/receive NSFW content must be at least 18 years old. If discovered that a participant has indicated interest in NSFW content but lied about their age, they will be removed from the event.❆ Have fun!This event's purpose is to bring joy during the holiday season, so please enjoy yourselves 🥰

General guidelines

❆ During sign-ups, you will be asked for your preferred medium, characters/ships, NSFW preferences and at most, three prompts.❆ The event will be hosted on an existing ORV discord server, you'll need to join the server by 12 Oct to confirm your participation. Moderators will be communicating and conducting periodic progress checks via discord.The purpose of holding the event in an existing space is to encourage more fandom interaction and love. If 'the more the merrier' is not for you, that is completely OK. You do not need to participate in the non-event space of the server. In fact, you'll have to opt-in to even join the non-event space.❆ You will have two months to create at least one completed fanwork that fulfils your giftee's prompt.Participants will be matched according to preference as much as possible. While you're not required to follow their prompts to a T, please don’t veer wildly away from their likes/dislikes.❆ During posting period, fanworks will be posted anonymously in a collection on AO3. They will stay anonymous until 31 Dec, and then gifters will be revealed. If you are unable to post anonymously, moderators may post your gift on behalf only on discord.❆ Post-reveal date, you are free to post on your personal accounts.❆ Due to moderation constraints, this event will only accept fanworks written in the English.❆ If, for whatever reason, you are unable to continue working on your gift/would like to pull out of the event, please inform a moderator ASAP so we can make the necessary arrangements.

Creators Requirements

❆ All fanworks must feature the characters and universe of Omniscient Reader prominently. Alternative Universes are allowed if your recipient has not specified against them. The onus is on the recipient to specify what they want or do not want in their gift.❆ Authors should produce a work with a minimum word count of 1,500 words. There is no maximum word count; however, keep in mind that you must have a completed fic by 14 December.❆ Artists should produce a work that is polished and fully coloured, not a sketch. If lineart is used, it should be clean. We strongly encourage artists to include a background, even if it is a simple colour or shape.❆ Please do not post your Secret Santa work to your personal accounts (eg. twitter, tumblr, livejournal, etc.) before the revealing of the creators. In your AO3 submission, please don’t make any references to who you are. This is a Secret Santa, after all! 🤫❆ An AO3 account is not necessary, but only AO3 works will be added to the event collection. All works should be tagged with appropriate trigger and content warnings as per AO3 rules and regulations. Spoiler warnings are not necessary but are strongly encouraged.

Pinch Hitters Requirements

❆ Pinch hitters are special participants that are not part of the regular participant circle.❆ If your help is needed, you will be asked for around 2 to 3 weeks before the reveal date and have to work under a short timeframe.

FAQ

SIGN UPSQ: I want to participate but missed the sign up period, can I still join?
A: If you miss sign up, you can still apply to be a pinch hitter! Pinch hitters complete assignments for anyone who has to drop out at any point in the fest. You might not receive a gift in return, but you'll still get to make someone’s day brighter. Pinch hitters are the absolute best.Q: I made an error in my application, what should I do?
A: You will receive a copy of your answers (via email) upon submitting the sign up form, and will be able to edit your responses if necessary. Please drop us either an email or direct message on Twitter/Tumblr if you can't edit your responses.

PromptsQ: Is there a theme I need to follow?
A: There is no fixed theme required, but it is Christmas, so feel free to sprinkle in as many reindeer and mistletoe as you want.Q: What needs to be in a prompt?
A: Your prompt can be as vague as "dokhyuk kissing" or as specific as "secretary dokja catfishing joonghyuk while their two kids become best friends in kindergarten". Do keep in mind anything not specified will be left up to the gifter's discretion.Q: What do I do if nobody wants to take my prompt?
A: We will do our best to match gifters and recipients. In the event that we cannot find a match for your prompts, we will ask you to submit another prompt.Q: What do I do if I need clarification on a given prompt?
A: Please contact a mod on what clarification you need. Once we receive clarification from your recipient, we will forward the information to you.

OthersQ: Can I have a beta?
A: Of course, but they will not be affiliated with the Winter Exchange and will not be receiving a gift. Our Discord has a specific role you may ping (@beta reader) if you wish to find a beta or offer your services as a beta, however, the event will not be organising betas.Q: Can I collaborate with other people?
A: You may, but please submit only one sign up form for the entire team (and let us know in the form as well). Please note that each sign up application will be treated as a single participant, so each collaboration team will be entitled to one gift per team.Q: When exactly are gifts due? Can I make any edits before my gift is revealed?
